Macleantown men get life and 10 years sentence for murders

Macleantown detectives, Sergeant Ngxowa, Constable Goniwe, and Constable Mntambo secured a life term sentence, 10 years and 12 months sentences respectively combined for two separate murders and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm cases, last month.

The East London Magistrate’s Court sentenced Sinethemba Botile to life imprisonment for murder he committed on 25 April 2018. Botile, 26 years old allegedly went to the deceased home and stabbed him to death, accusing him of having an affair with his girlfriend at Zikhwabe location on Wednesday, 26 April 2017.

The East London Magistrate’s Court sentenced Baba ‘Mbekweni’ Sigaji to 12 month imprisonment for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm on 18 April 2018. Sigaji, 28 years old stabbed the victim on the right arm without saying a word. The incident took place at Super shebeen, Kwetyana location on Sunday, 06 June 2017.

The East London Magistrate’s Court sentenced Anelisa Gavini to 10 years imprisonment for murder and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm on Tuesday, 24 April 2018. Gavini, 27 years old and his girlfriend were coming from the shebeen when he stabbed his girlfriend and went on to stab the other woman (deceased) to death without saying a word at Bongweni, Nkqonkweni location on Saturday, 19 December 2015.

Macleantown Station Commander, Captain Jacob Ntleki welcomed the sentencing, “We hope this will serve a lesson to those who are still involved in crime,” he added.
