An emptied and abandoned liquor delivery truck was recovered at about 10:00 in General Dundas Street, Zwide by Kwazakhele police. This followed after the truck was hijacked by four suspects with 3 firearms on the morning of 16 November 2018, at about 07:00 in Walmer township.

According to the driver and his four assistants they were about to make a delivery when they were forced by the suspects at gunpoint to get into a blue Toyota Quantum which was blocking the road. Their cellphones were taken and then ordered to lie flat inside the quantum.

The suspects then drove around with them for about an hour before letting them get out of the vehicle in a bushy area near Despatch. After about another half an hour their phones were handed back to them and left unharmed in the bushes. The driver then alerted the police.

The recovered truck was missing about 800 crates of beer with a value of more than R100 000.
Any person that could assist police in this investigation can contact their closest police station or phone 08600 10111.
