Knysna police officer sentenced for stock theft in Mthatha

Eastern Cape SAPS Management commend Detective Constable Bandile Tatubana who brought a Knysna Warrant Officer and his son to book for Stock Theft.

The Mthatha Regional Court has finalized a case of stock theft where a police Warrant Officer at Knysna was convicted and sentenced on the 11 July 2017.

Thamsanqa Maqungo (47) and his son Khanya Maqungo (22) were found guilty and were sentenced to undergo three years imprisonment no fine.

On the 10 July 2013, twelve sheep were stolen at Mantshilibeni locality Centuli A/A in Bityi. During a thorough investigation conducted by Detective Constable Bandile Tatubana, 11 sheep were recovered alive and one slaughtered and in their possession.

SAPS Management commended Detective Constable Bandile Tatubana who brought back hope to the communities by arresting one of his colleagues and proving to them that no one is above the law.
