The King Williams Town Station Commander, Colonel Nomvuyo Mrwebi has welcomed the conviction of three murder accused by King Williams Town Regional Court.

The three accused, Mohammed Yasin, Loyiso Nkohla and Sheik Irfan, were arrested following an Inquest case that was opened for investigation in January 2017. The body of the deceased was found by the community member under the bridge at Westdrive, King William’s Town in January 2017.

An Inquest docket was opened for investigation and the Detectives followed up on information received and the case was later changed to Murder and Kidnapping. Thorough investigation led Police to the arrest of the three suspects in February 2017 and their subsequent appearance at Magistrate Court.

The bail was successfully denied and they were remanded in custody since then. They appeared several times at Court and the case was transferred to the Regional Court in June 2017 where they appeared for trial several times.

They were convicted and sentenced by the King William’s Town Magistrate’s Court to four years for Kidnapping and life imprisonment for Murder on 7 March 2019.

The Station Commander, Colonel Nomvuyo Mrwebi commended the work done by Detective Sergeant Tabatha who secured the harsh conviction. She thanked the community for sharing valuable information that led to the arrest, she added.
