Excellent teamwork between the different SAPS units resulted in the effective arrest of the alleged murder and arson suspect wanted in Kamesh. The suspect was arrested on Monday evening, 18 October 2021 in Bloza, Rocklands, outside Gqeberha.

A team of dedicated SAPS Kabega Park members acted swiftly after receiving valuable information about the alleged suspect’s whereabouts. After a thorough search, at about 22:50, the 32-year-old suspect was apprehended.

While police were effecting the arrest, they were informed by a complainant that the same suspect also allegedly stabbed him a few days ago. A case of assault with the intent to cause bodily harm was also opened against the suspect and he is due to appear in the St Albans magistrate court on Wednesday, 20 October 2021 on the said charge.

The suspect will also soon appear in the Kariega magistrate court on charges of murder, attempted murder and arson.

It is alleged that during the early hours of Sunday morning, 17 October 2021 at about 00:22, the suspect allegedly set a home alight in Oliver Street, Blikkiesdorp, Kariega, resulting in the death of two people.

It is further alleged that six people were inside the house when the fire started. Some of the occupants managed to break down the back door and escaped. As a family friend, aged 30 years old, went back into the house to rescue a 3-year-old boy, they were trapped and burned to death.

The names of the victims are Misumzi Tee (30) and Azabeluncedo Madikane (3). The motive is yet to be established.

Acting Nelson Mandela Bay District Commissioner, Brigadier Thandiswa Kupiso applauded the team for their relentless efforts in tracking and tracing the suspect.
