In Port Elizabeth members of the K9 unit and Motherwell OCC team arrested 2 suspects for Possession of stolen motor vehicle and attempted murder.

The team received information that a vehicle that was possibly hijacked or stolen was traveling along Stanford Road towards Cleary park. They responded instantly and spotted the vehicle and a chase ensued.
Several attempts to pull the vehicle over proved futile as the vehicle was driven towards the direction of Kwazekele along the old Bethelsdorp road.

During the chase the suspects fired shots at the SAPS members who returned fire causing the suspect’s vehicle to collide with a Toyota Fortuner and swerved and collided with the K9 vehicle.

Four suspects got out of the vehicle and as they fled started shooting at the officers. Two suspects aged 24 and 28 were swiftly apprehended whilst the other two suspects fled into the nearby neighbourhood.

The suspects face charges of possession of suspected stolen vehicle and attempted murder. Police investigations continue.

On the morning of 30 March 2018, at about 08:30 members of the Port Alfred K9 unit were busy with a stop and search operation in Nemato when they saw a suspicious male with a parcel. They stopped and searched him and found that the parcel contained dagga with a street value of R3 300-00. He was arrested and will appear in the Port Alfred Magistrate’s Court early next week.
