K9 unit tracks down housebreaker, on bail for murder, Port Alfred

In the early hours of 21 August 2019, members of the Port Alfred K9 unit attended to a panic alarm in Bathurst. When the members arrived on scene, the complainant furnished the description of suspects who had broken into the garage of the premises.

The members followed the tracks from the scene into the bush and with the assistance of patrol dog ‘Bonzo’, a suspect aged 32 was arrested. He was found in possession of a brush cutter which was linked to another housebreaking. The value of the brush cutter R10 000-00.

Investigations reveal that the suspect is currently on bail for housebreaking and murder. He suspect now faces a charge of possession of suspected stolen property and will appear in the Port Alfred magistrate’s court later this week.
