Quick reaction and response led to the arrest of four allege hijacking suspects by members of Gqeberha K9 on Saturday 12 June 2021.

It is alleged that the complainant and four suspect were together in his vehicle a VW Polo, they were drinking together, however at approximately 03:00 the suspects stopped the vehicle in Mtunja Street, New Brighton.

They forced the owner out of his car, searched him and demanded money, the suspects left the complainant and drove off with his vehicle. Gqeberha K9, received information about the hijacked vehicle an immediately followed up.

The members recovered the vehicle in Jabavu Street, New Brighton in a yard behind a close gate and arrested the four hijacking suspects aged between 27 and 34. Members further followed up on information with the Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit and recovered the vehicle battery of the hijacked vehicle, the vehicle was impounded for further investigation.

The suspect will appear at the New Brighton Magistrate Court during the week on charges of Hijacking.
