Joint FLASH operation yields success in Elliot cluster

The Elliot Cluster Office together with FLASH (Firearms Control, Liquor and Second-Hand Goods) from the Provincial Office Conducted a combine Operation for the time period 20 to 22 November 2018 in the towns of Elliot, Indwe and Dordrecht respectively. Captain Alexander from FLASH was in command of the operations and he was supported by Warrant Officer Louw from Elliot Cluster Office Visible Policing and the members on station level.

The Operations included the members of Visible Policing, Flash Provincial, Elliot K9 Unit as well as Barkly East Mounted Unit.

The focus of the operation was to close down illegal liquor outlets as well as compliance inspections at Second hand good dealers. During these operations the following successes was achieved:

Three illegal liquor outlets (Shebeens) was closed down. Fines issued to amount of R2500-00.
One Legal outlet was closed down due to the licence to trade expired. Fine issued R1500-00.
Six fines been issued at Liquor outlets (Taverns) for not appointing a Manager under the Liquor Act.
Fines to the amount of R6000-00 issued.
One SHG dealer was fined R2500-00 for not being registered as a second hand dealer.
Counterfeit CD’s were also confiscated to the value of R2000-00.

The Cluster Commander, Colonel Matshediso Gezani commended and thanked the joint forces that worked together to achieve these successes.

We are approaching the Festive Season and the operations has emphasized the fact that the SAPS in the Elliot Cluster will not tolerate lawlessness and action will be taken against those that does not adhere to the law. We are here to ensure that our communities always feel safe and secure and we will monitor the liquor outlets closely.
