Working together with our community in the fight against crime is our priority. Members followed up on information leading to positive results when they stopped and searched a silver grey Mazda 323 with two occupants near Mthatha Police Station on the R61 road on 11 March 2018 at about 14h40.

Upon searching they found a police 9mm Norinco Pistol with two rounds of ammunition and a 9mm Parabellum Pistol with six rounds of ammunition. Both firearms were circulated and a Norinco pistol was positively linked to a 2006 Coffee Bay case and the Parabellum was positively linked to a 2017 Peddie case.

The suspect’s silver grey 2003 Mazda 323 was also confiscated. The firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing and the suspects will appear before Mthatha Magistrate Court on 12 March 2018 facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
