The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Gqeberha are seeking the community’s assistance in tracing a suspect wanted in an alleged rape that took place during the early hours of Sunday morning, 7 May 2023 in Chatty.
It is alleged that on Saturday, 6 May 2023 at approximately 23:00 the complainant (29) was with friends and visited a tavern around Chatty area.
At 03:00, the complainant and her friends used a jikaleza to drive them home. After everyone was dropped off and when the complainant was alone in the taxi, the suspect drove towards Qunu where he raped her. She was then dropped off at a friend’s house in Marikana.
The victim opened a case of rape at SAPS Chatty.
An identikit of the suspect was compiled and he is approximately 1,6m tall and is between the ages of 25 and 30 years old. He has a stubble beard. The suspect as per attached identikit was wearing a grey jersey and a pair of grey shorts.
