Police officials in the Humansdorp Cluster in their continuous endeavor to keep the community safe have increased their visibility and intensified crime prevention operations, which include actions such as stop and search operations and roadblocks.

The continuous seizure and confiscation of firearms remains a priority and members will continue with their actions to rid communities from crime generators such as drugs.

Members from the Humansdorp Cluster conducted a multidisciplinary roadblock on the N2, Storms River area on 26 October 2018 and obtained the following successes:

Members stopped and searched 566 vehicles. 60 Traffic fines to the value of R40 550-00 were issued. A trailer was confiscated. One person was arrested for driving under the influence of liquor and another was arrested for possession of tik.

They are due to appear in court soon.

The South African Police Service wants to encourage the community to work with the SAPS in reducing crime and they appeal to the community to provide valuable information that will lead to the confiscation of illegal firearms and the arrest of those involved.
