House robberies, 5 recovered firearms go for ballistic testing, Bityi
House robberies, 5 recovered firearms go for ballistic testing, Bityi

In an effort to fight stock theft and house robberies around Bityi, the SAPS is conducting operations that amongst others concentrates on illegal firearms, stock theft and wanted suspects. Five suspects with their ages ranging between 27 and 47 years were arrested by the Provincial TRT around Bityi during the weekend.

In Sihlabeni locality a suspect was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with 8 rounds of ammunition
In Xhongora locality a suspect was found with a 9mm Norinco pistol with 8 rounds
In Xhongora a man was found in possession of a Z88 9mm Parabellum pistol with 15 rounds
In Mqhekezweni locality a man was found in possession of a Wrap 401 9mm pistol with 8 rounds.

Three more pistols were taken in for enquiries during the vehicle checkpoints and will also be sent for ballistic testing to ascertain whether they cannot be linked to other crime incidents.

The Acting Cluster Commander Brigadier Mandlakhe Twala applauded the team and thanked the communities for assisting police with information.
