Home invasion, woman robbed, 4 arrested, New Brighton

Four suspects were arrested after a vehicle that was used in a house robbery was spotted in Old Grahamstown Road, Swartkops.

This follows after a house robbery took place in Tshangana Street, New Brighton on 18 February at 18:30. A 40 year old woman was in her home when four suspects entered, one with a firearm, and robbed her of a plasma TV and cellphone.

The suspects used a white Ford Laser in the robbery.

At about 01:00 on 19 February 2018, Motherwell Cluster Highway Patrol spotted this vehicle in Old Grahamstown Road, Swartkops where the driver was instructed to stop upon which a search was conducted. Four suspects, a 23 year old female and three males aged 28, 29 and 31 were arrested after the plasma TV and cellphone were recovered in the vehicle.

They will be appearing before the Motherwell Magistrates Court on Wednesday 21 February 2018 on charges of possession of stolen goods.

The Motherwell Cluster Commander, Major General Dawie Rabie added that “we will do follow up investigations to determine if these were also the same suspects involved in the house robbery.”
