Police are appealing to the community to be alert and to report any suspicious or crime related activities after a hijacked vehicle was recovered torched in KwaNobuhle on the night of 7 February 2019.

It is alleged that on Thursday 7 February 2019, around 22:15, a 56 year old owner of a silver Volkswagen Golf was stationary in Huna Road, KwaNobuhle, when three men armed with firearms knocked on his window. The complainant further alleged that the suspects forced him out of his vehicle and they drove off. The incident was immediately reported to SAPS Kwanobuhle who recovered the vehicle within minutes, less than a kilometre from the scene, burning in Matanzima Road, KwaNobuhle.

The community is urged to report any information that can assist the SAPS in their investigation by calling SAPS Kwanobuhle at 041 978 8600, Crime Stop 08600 10111 or SMS Crime Line at 32211. All information will be dealt with confidentiality, tipsters can remain anonymous.

Following this incident, the Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga warned: “Acts of criminality will not be tolerated by the SAPS. We will be stamping the authority of the State by reclaiming the streets from criminals and protect innocent people. Criminals need to eradicate their perception that they have dominion over the SAPS”.
