Hijacked liquor delivery truck recovered, 2 arrested, Joe Slovo

A liquor delivery truck and its cargo were recovered and two suspects were arrested following a truck hijacking in Joe Slovo.

The truck was on its way to make a delivery, when it was hijacked at the traffic lights on the R75 (Uitenhage Road) at 13:30. Three armed male suspects forced the driver and his assistant at gunpoint into a silver VW Polo, and later dropped them off in an open space in Joe Slovo.

The truck was found abandoned in Seweti Street, Joe Slovo a short while later at about 14:15 by patrolling SAPS Rapid Rail Police members. 48 Cases of liquor were still on the truck.

Two male suspects, aged 26 and 27, were found carrying cases of liquor in the vicinity and arrested for possession of suspected stolen property.

They will be appearing before the New Brighton Magistrates court.
