Quick response by police led to the arrest of two suspects, the recovery of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition and suspected stolen goods during a robbery in Helenvale on Tuesday 26 April 2022.
It is alleged that just after 06:30, SAPS Gelvandale members were busy with patrols in the Helenvale area when they received information from the community of a robbery.
According to the information the suspects fled in the direction of Voison Road, Helenvale. The members immediately acted on the information and successfully apprehended two suspects aged 18 and 24 years old.
The two cellphones that were taken during the robbery and a 9mm Norinca firearm with ammunition were confiscated.
The suspects were arrested on charges of robbery, possession of unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition and will appear in the Gelvandale magistrate court during the week.
