A 28 year old alleged gang member was arrested on the morning of 22 July 2019, at the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court by members of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit (Gang Investigation).
The investigators were at court busy with a bail application when they spotted the suspect who was visiting another gang member appearing for an attempted murder allegedly committed in June 2019, in Gelvandale.
It is alleged that on 13 July 2019 at about 15:30, the suspect fired several shots at the complainant in Deverill Road in Helenvale.
The suspect is known to the complainant. No one was injured during the shooting.
The suspect is detained on a charge of attempted murder and will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on 23 July 2019.
