The Gqeberha Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team, in collaboration with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) arrested Rudolph Johannes Petrus De Meyer (45) on 12 March 2025, for alleged fraud and money laundering.

De Meyer’s arrest follows an intensive investigation conducted by the Hawks into claims that, the suspect allegedly misled investors by falsely promising high returns on an investment opportunity that never existed. Instead, funds were allegedly misused for personal gain.

Further investigation revealed that between September 2022 and April 2023, De Meyer allegedly operated an illegal investment scheme under the company Red Hot Industries (PTY) Ltd, defrauding investors of R1.26 million.

He was arrested in East London on a J50 warrant, transported to Gqeberha and appeared in New Law Courts, District Court 27 on 13 March 2025.

The case has been remanded to 20 March 2025, for a formal bail application and De Meyer remains in custody.
