Two Bethelsdorp men were found guilty in the Port Elizabeth High court yesterday, 31 October 2016, on charges of murder and aggravated robbery.

Charlton Jackson (27) and Fabian Bowers (36) will know their fate on 2 November 2016 when they will be sentenced.

On 3 April 2015 at about 01:10, ADT security official, Christopher Adams attended to an alarm that went off at a house in Booysens Park Drive in Bethelsdorp. The two accused approached Adams from behind while he was seated in the vehicle. He was fatally shot twice in his neck.

Successful tracing on one of the cellphones by the investigating officer, Detective Constable Elton Uithaler led police to a friend of both accused. Both Jackson and Bowers were arrested on 22 April 2015 at their respective houses in Vastrap in Booysens Park.

The Cluster Commander for Mount Road Cluster, Maj Gen Dawie Rabie commended the investigating officer, Detective Constable Uithaler of Provincial Gang Investigation Unit on securing such a conviction especially that this was his first High Court case. “We are serious about bringing stability to the Northern Areas and we will not rest until those responsible for violent crimes and criminal activities are behind bars for many years.’
