In anticipation of retributive sentencing, the Provincial Head of the DPCI in the Eastern Cape, Major General Obed Ngwenya welcomed the conviction of Noxolo Gloria Lutseke (38) by Gqeberha Regional Court on 4 November 2022 for charges of fraud and defeating the ends of justice.

He further lauded the Gqeberha Serious Commercial Crime Investigation of the Hawks for the work well done.

On 8 June 2016, Lutseke who was employed at the High court in Gqeberha as administration clerk requested money from members of the public in order to expedite their request for services.

Another member of the public also complained that she was charged for services and had to pay an amount of R2500 to Lutseke.

The member of the public transferred the funds from her bank account to Lutseke as a money voucher to Lutseke’s cellphone. Lutseke also requested one of her co-workers to delete important files from her computer.

Lutseke was arrested on 9 June 2016 and was released on a warning the same day.

She made a number of court appearances until her ultimate conviction on 4 November 2022.

The matter is remanded to 16 January 2023 for sentencing.
