Centane Regional Magistrate’s Court convicted and sentenced 25 year old man Anele Maxakatha to undergo eight years’ imprisonment for rape. The accused was sentenced on Friday, 18 October 2019 at Centane Magistrate Court.
It is alleged that the accused found a 16 year old girl who was enjoying herself in a tavern on 1 January 2018, at about 18:00 at Rwantsini Locality, Gcina Village, Centane. The accused dragged the victim to his home where he raped her.
A rape case was registered at Centane police station. The case was handed over to Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).
