Gang member arrested after shooting incident

A 30-year-old gang affiliate was arrested shortly after an alleged shooting which took place on Saturday night, 7 January 2016 in Tuna Street, Pellrus in Jeffrey’s Bay.

According to police information, at about 22:15 a group of men forced their way into the house and one suspect started shooting at the complainant. The complainant (45) escaped unscathed.

Shortly after the shooting, Humansdorp K9 Unit followed up on information on the whereabouts of the suspects. Five men were found at a house in Dolphin Street which is in also in Pellrus. The men were questioned by police and one person was detained at SAPS Jeffrey’s Bay on a charge of attempted murder and pointing of a firearm. The suspect is affiliated to the Rough Riders gang. Motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.

The suspect will appear in the Humansdorp magistrate court today, 9 January 2017.
