Four company directors aged between 35,36,46 and 64 were summoned by the Gqeberha based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team of the Hawks on 7 July 2022 to appear in the Gqeberha Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on 29 July 2022 for allegations of fraud.

The four summoned company directors claimed from Keypack Pty Ltd situated in Gqeberha for services not rendered.

It is reported that during the period 20 April 2018 to 26 April 2018, the credit controller of Keypack received emails purported to be from the managers of Keypack Pty Ltd where the complainant was employed.

The credit controller is reported to have paid the emailed claims believing to be the instruction from her employers that is Keypack Pty Ltd. On balancing the books, Keypack identified the discrepancies and a complaint was lodged with Gqeberha Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team.

Investigations by the Hawks ensued. Keypack Pty Ltd was discovered to have been defrauded cash to the value of more than R1.2 million from fraudulent payment instructions.

The suspects were served summons on 7 July 2022 to make their first court appearance in the Gqeberha Specialised Crime Court on 29 July 2022.

The investigation team is lauded by Major General Mboiki Obed Ngwenya for the initial success in anticipation of a relevant retributive measure for the unscrupulous conduct.
