On 16 January 2019, members of the Aliwal North Detectives under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Mgugulwa together with Crime Intelligence and COCC managed to arrest 4 suspects and recovered property with an estimated value of R15 000.00.

At 03:10 in the morning three suspects broke into “Madiba” Shop and stole property including groceries, laptop, airtime machine, boxes of cigarettes and gym equipment. It is alleged that the property was loaded into two vehicles.

Positive information was followed up and the identified houses where the property was taken was searched during which the operation continued up until 23:00.

All the stolen items were recovered and an additional suspect, aged 29, was arrested for being in possession of stolen property, the cigarettes and groceries.

The arrests of the suspects aged 33, 30, and 29 is a major success in terms of property related crimes in the Aliwal North and Maletswai area.

The Deputy Cluster Commander, Colonel Mpho Rabele commended the members for their sterling efforts and their combined efforts that made the arrests and recoveries possible.
