Five suspects nabbed for Mdantsane murders

Unwavering endeavours by Mdantsane detectives together with the Mdantsane SAPS Crime Prevention Unit members brought about the arrest of five suspects in a space of a week to solve murders that took place in Mdanstane.

The suspects aged between 20 and 25 years were arrested in various units around Mdantsane through an in-depth investigation by the police.

A 76-year-old elderly woman and a 59-year-old mentally challenged son were killed in their NU 2 home between the evening and the morning of 21 and 22 September 2020. A 25-year-old suspect (grandson) was arrested in relation to this incident.

In another incident, the body of a man was found dumped in Greniker dam, NU 7, Mdantsane on Monday night, 12 October 2020, after three men allegedly kidnapped him from Duncan Village.

Lastly, a man was killed following a robbery that took place in the street at Sisonke informal settlement, NU2, Mdantsane during the early hours of Sunday evening, 16 August 2020.

The suspects have appeared in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder and are due to appear again soon for formal bail application.
