Two Firearms have been seized during an intelligence driven operation by Mdantsane Crime Prevention Unit members and five notorious armed robbers aged between 19 and 32 years were arrested today in NU-5, Mdantsane.
Police pounced on the suspects in the early hours of the morning, and confiscated two 9mm pistols, pellet-gun, 15 rounds of ammunition and cellphones.
Two suspects were charged with illegal possession of firearms and the other three suspects were charged with possession of suspected stolen goods.
The firearms will be sent for ballistic tests to establish if they were used in the commission of crime in the country.
The five suspects are expected to appear in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, facing charges of illegal possession of firearm and possession of suspected stolen goods.
