Another horrific farm murder! On Wednesday, October 26, Louis (74) and Veron (71) van den Berg became victims of another ruthless farm attack in Rustig, Joe Gqabi District, Elundini Municipality, Maclear, Eastern Cape.
A group of five men approached the farm and told a worker they wanted to buy cattle. The worker led the men to Louis, who walked with the men toward the cattle. On the path, the suspects overpowered Louis and beat him to death. The armed and dangerous criminals went back to the house and assaulted Vernon and the worker. Both Vernon and the worker were tied up and the suspects demanded the safe keys.
The suspects fled with two firearms.
Fortunately, the worker was able to untie himself and helped Veron as well. Once free, Vernon raised the alarm and alerted the farming community and police.
Vernon was transferred to a hospital and the police are investigating the incident.
