Alexandria Detectives made a breakthrough today after working around the clock and vigorously pursuing the investigation into a Alexandria house robbery case on a farm.

A male aged 24 was arrested and is currently in custody.

Brigadier Morgan Govender the Cluster Commander of Port Alfred commended the investigation team and said:”The community is commended for their assistance and information supplied. Our investigations are still continuing and any person with additional information to contact the Detective Commander Captain Leon Els.”

Several items of clothing as well as the victims cell phone was recovered. These exhibits will all be forwarded for further Forensic analysis. The suspect will appear in the Alexandria Magistrates court in Monday.

The initial Report from the Port Alfred Cluster was as follows: Alexandria, 25 November 2017, A Case of House Robbery is being investigated following an incident that took place on a farm in Alexandria on 25 November 2017 at approximately 09:00. It is alleged that the victim in his early sixties was attacked whilst in his home by two unknown males. He had been severely beaten.

The suspects fled with his bakkie which was later recovered. A .38 special revolver is believed to have also been taken. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is in a stable condition.

Details of the incident are still unclear and a team of investigators are utilizing all the necessary resources and sophisticated aids to trace and track the perpetrators of this incident.
