A farm attack took place on Tuesday 12 July 2022, on a smallholding in the Withoogte area outside Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.
A 76 year old man was alone in his house on the smallholding when he was attacked by two black men armed with knives and a self-made garden fork.
The attackers repeatedly stabbed the elderly man with their weapons and fled with money and cellphones.
One of the attackers was caught by a member of the community who reacted when he heard screams coming from the house. The second attacker was not caught.
The elderly victim was taken to hospital with the garden fork still in his arm.
The Police is investigating a case of house robbery.
Residents on farms and smallholdings need to urgently step up security measures as farm attacks have escalated recently and these attacks are especially directed against vulnerable people like the elderly.
