A farm attack took place on Thursday 22 December 2022, at 07:00 on the farm Mama in the Ida Indwe area in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.

Andre and Cathy Basson were attacked at their home by two attackers.

The attackers approached Mr. Andre Basson (62) while he was working outside.

They pretended to be looking for work when they suddenly and violently started assaulting Andre Basson with a panga and a knobkerrie.

Mr. Basson fought for his life and made his way back into the house whilst continually defending himself where he locked himself and his wife inside.

The attackers then attempted to break into the home.

The couple raised the alarm causing the attackers to flee.

Due to Mr. Basson’s brave efforts and determination for survival the couple were fortunate have survived an attack that could have turned out to be a very much worse scenario.

All role players responded to assist. Mr. Basson suffered numerous wounds and received the necessary medical care.

Mrs. Basson was uninjured.

The police are investigating but there have been no arrests.
