Warrant Officer Mornay Shaun Bradley (47) attached to Gelvandale police station was released on warning by the magistrate at the Gqeberha New Law Court on 27 September 2022 on a charge of attempted extortion.

It is alleged that during May to June 2022, Bradley contacted the complainant alleging that he had information from his informer that the complainant’s son is suspected of having sold an illegal firearm to a gangster.

He allegedly further threatened the complainant that he will continue with the investigation on the allegations if that amount was not paid.

A case of extortion was reported to the Gqeberha based Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation hence Bradley’s arrest yesterday, 27 September 2022.

The matter was remanded to 4 October 2022 for copies and transfer of the dockets to the regional court.
