On Saturday, 7 September 2019, Elliot K9 members Sgt Dyantyi, Cst Mehlo and Cst Alam were busy with vehicle check points on the R412 between Ugie and Mthatha as part of their high visibility crime prevention activities during the weekend.

They managed to stop and search a Toyota quantum that led to the arrest of two suspects, both 21 years, from Ugie. The first suspect was in possession of 10 boss full mandrax tablets and one sachet of tik. The second one had 32 full boss mandrax tablets in his possession.

Narcotic dog “Jerry” was utilized to search the vehicles and they could not escape our clever four legged friend that was also on duty together with his handler.

The men will appear before court on charges of possession of drugs.

The Cluster Commander, Colonel Matshediso Gezani commended the members of K9 on their continued commitment and dedication to fight crime in the Elliot Cluster.
