Elderly woman (71) shot in farm attack

On Wednesday morning around 0H25, two suspects broke into the home of Grace Barnardo (73) situated in Port Elizabeth.

The suspects used a brick to break a window and climbed in through the broken hole. Grace woke up with the sound of breaking glass, and the suspects shouted at her and threatened to shoot her. She ran into another room and pressed the panic button.

The officers of Atlas Security responded immediately. Seconds later the police responded and only then did the terrified Grace come out of her room.

According to Monty Montgomery, chief operating officer of Atlas Security, a witness across the street heard a loud noise at Barnardo’s home and saw two men carry a television set out of the house, and loaded it into a silver VW Polo before driving away.

An investigation continues and the suspects are still at large.
