Elderly owners of Seaview lion park ambushed, assaulted, robbed, Port Elizabeth

The elderly owners of a well known lion park, the Seaview Predator Park, near Port Elizabeth were injured when they were attacked at the gate to the park on Tuesday 2 March 2021 at around 10:30.

Janice (81) and Rusty Gibb (79) were attacked by two black males, one armed with a firearm and one armed with a knife, near the gate of the park. The attackers forced the car to stop about 400 metres from the gate. It was also later established that the attackers gained entry to the park by breaking the fence around the park.

It appears as if the attackers waited in the bushes for the owners to pass in their car. The attackers demanded money. When they saw the owners did not have money, they assaulted them by hitting them very hard in their faces and then fled with a wallet and cellphone.

Analysis:

We are creatures of habit and normally follow the same pattern, like going to town at the same time. It is important that we take countermeasures to make it more difficult to be attacked. If we are going to follow the same pattern every time by going to town at the same time, it will be easy for attackers to know when we will be at a certain time.

Be especially observant at gates because you will be stationary there for a while. If at all possible, be armed at all times and carry your firearm with you.

Most attackers are actually cowards and will flee if you are fighting back with a firearm.
