Eight shops burn down, Peddie

On 1 October 2019, at 02:30, Peddie Vispol members who were conducting patrols in the town noticed smoke from a shop which is adjacent to Peddie Spar. The fire spread rapidly affected eight shops in a short time.

Amathole District dispatched Komga fire fighters to the scene who tried to extinguish the fire. A total of eight buildings were affected by the fire namely a supermarket, saloon and 6 other shops.

The cause of the fire is still to be determined. Emergency, firefighters and all role players are still at the scene. Damage by the fire is unknown and yet to be estimated.

The investigation will guide the police next action regarding this incident.
