Eastern Cape school principal in court for alleged rape of 13-year-old pupil
15 years imprisonment for rapist

A 51-year-old school principal accused of raping a 13-year-old pupil appeared in the Ngqamakhwe Magistrate’s Court on Friday, but was not asked to plead, Eastern Cape police said.

The case was postponed to Tuesday for further investigation and the accused remained in custody as he was not granted bail, Captain Jackson Manatha said.

Butterworth police family violence, child protection, and sexual offences unit (FCS) officers arrested a junior secondary school principal at Ngqamakhwe on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.

“It is alleged that the suspect started to rape the victim from March till July 2016. The victim was noticed by her family members that her behaviour has changed. When she was asked what happened, she broke the silence that she had been raped by the suspect from March till July 2016,” Manatha said.
