A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his seven-year-old girl cousin at Ndabakazi village in Butterworth, Eastern Cape police said on Friday.
Police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said the man was arrested on Thursday for the alleged rape.
“The allegation is that the mother of the victim left her child on Sunday 30 October 2016 and went to a church service. She was left with another child who is four years old. The crime was allegedly committed at Jojweni Location, Ndabakazi Village, Butterworth.”
He said when the mother returned from church, her daughter informed by her that she had been raped.
The man was expected to appear in the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
