Dutywa Police arrested a 29 year old man for alleged rape of a 31 year old woman. It is alleged that the victim was on route from the homestead of her uncle on Friday 16 November 2018 at Njemane Locality, Nqabane Village, Dutywa.
She noticed that she was being followed by the suspect. It was about 20:00 when the suspect is alleged to have accosted the victim and then raped her. A case of rape was registered at Dutywa Police Station.
Dutywa Police acted swiftly and traced the suspect. The suspect was arrested on Saturday 17 November 2018. He will appear before the Dutywa Magistrate Court on Monday 19 November 2018 on a rape charge. Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu commended Dutywa Police for their swift actions in tracing and arresting the suspect.
