Stabilisation operations in the province continue to bring more suspects to book. This is after the police arrested two suspects, aged 26, in Mthatha on the R61 near Corhana on 28 March 2019, at about 19:40.

The team was patrolling and conducting visibility along R61 when they spotted a suspicious white Toyota Etios with two occupants. The vehicle was stopped and searched. Upon circulation, the vehicle came out positive with Durban CAS opened in October 2018.

The pair will appear before Ngqeleni Magistrate Court soon on charges of suspected stolen vehicle.

The Acting Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Major General Thembeka Dyanyti commended the police for their commitment that led to the successes. She said these operations will continue to ensure the stabilisation of trio crimes including cash in transit and proliferation of illegal firearms.
