Ongoing efforts to prevent serious crime remains a priority of the SAPS in the Eastern Cape and today’s significant results manifests this commitment as an intelligent driven operation which was conducted in Mbizana by members of Crime Intelligence from Mbizana and the Public Order Policing Unit from Lusikisiki.

Three male suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm, stolen property and possession of drugs in unrelated cases.

A 28 year old suspect was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition was found in his possession. Mandrax tablets, stolen property including laptop and 08 cell phones with an estimated value of R25 000, was also seized from the suspect.

Another suspect (25) was also arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition and a 27 year old male was arrested for dealing in drugs.

All the suspects will appear in the local magistrate’s court during the week.

The Cluster Commander Brigadier Mtutuzeli Mtukushe said today, “Our operations are ongoing and we encourage the community to provide us with information on crime and criminal activities. Let’s work together so that we can get rid of these criminal elements who are feeding our children with drugs and terrorising our community.” He also commended the team and prompted them to continue to seize the illegal weapons.
