At about 23:00 on the night of 3 April 2019, an SAPS team executed a search warrant at a house in Lawler Street, Schauderville. A small amount of tik, dagga, 278 still pain tablets, 36 tik bulbs, 58 vials, 8 packets of cocaine (3g each) was seized.

Two suspects aged 25 and 32 were arrested for possession of drugs and will appear in the Gelvandale magistrates’ court on 4 April 2019. In another search at a house in Jamaica Street, Timothy Valley, the K9 unit and Flying Squad also confiscated 501 stillpain tablets found hidden in tall grass in the yard. No arrests were made.

At about 03:30 a suspected drug post was also searched in Kerk Street, Missionvale. Packaging bags, 410 mandrax tablets, 5 x .22 rounds of ammunition, a Samsung cell phone, a substantial amount of cash, a cell phone and a laptop was seized.

A 24 year old suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs. He is expected to appear in court soon.

The total value of all the drugs and scheduled medicines seized is R21 000.

Acting Cluster Commander for Mount Road, Brigadier Andrew Louw welcomed the arrests and is warning drug dealers that ’we and will exact the authority of the State and we will identify and destroy these drug dens.’
