Domestic violence: 11 Year sentence for murder of girlfriend, Bathurst

Zwelenzima Christopher Blou, aged 33 years of Tembisa Location in Bathurst was sentenced to 11 years imprisonment for the murder of his 26 year old girlfriend, Vuyokazi Zondani, Thembisa Location in Bathurst.

At 21:00 on 10 March 2018, both the victim and the suspect who were inebriated were embroiled in a domestic argument. The victim intended ending her relationship with the suspect. The suspect then used a knife and stabbed her in her neck. She died at the scene.

Two hours later he was arrested by members of the Bathurst SAPS.

Violence against women and children is one of the SAPS Priorities. Awareness campaigns are being held with the community, however victims need to be aware that there is help out there. The protection order is one of the very powerful tools that can be applied for to assist victims of domestic violence.
