Detectives from the Operational Command Centre in Uitenhage and detectives from SAPS Despatch are following up on all possible leads, after a 32 year old male was wounded on the evening of 17 June 2019, at about 18:30, following a business robbery in Chief Albert Luthuli Street, Kayamandi, Despatch.

It is alleged that the complainant and his assistant were standing outside their shop when they were approached by three men. The complainant sensed that something was not right and as he was about to run away, one of the three men pulled out a firearm and shot the complainant in the upper body.

The suspects then forced the assistant back inside the shop where they took cash and groceries. They then ran away from the scene on foot. The 32 year old male was rushed to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Police are investigating a case of business robbery and attempted murder. No arrests have been made as yet and the South African Police Service request anyone who might be able to assist with any information about the shooting incident or the business robbery , to contact Detective WO Wouter Verwey on 084 846 2273 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
