During the election campaign, the Democratic Alliance (DA) claimed that if Nelson Mandela were alive, he would vote for the DA. It made good sense since Mandela was a president of reconciliation and now the DA have the opportunity to reconcile the rainbow nation in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.

It is no secret that the DA is a political party who delivers, and a party that has a zero corruption tolerance. The Western Cape is evidence of good governance, and now, the DA can expand its leadership around South Africa. Now freedom, fairness and opportunities await the people of NM Bay. The DA Leader Mmusi Maimane has high expectations for this metro, and it will be a boost for the entire South African economy.

The African National Congress (ANC) have a long history of bad governance, corruption, internal factions, arrogance, and division. The President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma spent a lot of time, during his campaign, criticizing the DA and other parties, claiming the ANC would rule forever. It is arrogance and the severe lack of caring that led to the ANC losing some major cities around South Africa to the DA and other political parties. For the ANC it is a little too late.

The DA probably would have achieved a landslide victory if voters understood that good governance was more important than loyalty to a party who is corrupt. Unfortunately, many voters still believe the ANC will reclaim the metro based on opinions that the ANC is the only party that offers freedom. Now the DA will have the opportunity to prove to the oblivious masses that democracy has no color. Perhaps the DA will teach the ill-advised the difference between freedom and democracy.
