Cyclist robbed of expensive bicycle along Motherwell Road, Uitenhage

The South African Police Service in Uitenhage are investigating a case of armed robbery after a 19-year-old cyclist was allegedly robbed of his expensive bicycle on Wednesday, 9 September 2020.

According to police information, at about 10:45, the victim was cycling on the R334 Motherwell Road, Uitenhage when the chain of the bicycle fell off. Whilst the cyclist was busy fixing the chain, he noticed a white Nissan 1400 bakkie stopped in front of him. A passenger climbed out of the bakkie and approached the cyclist and started to compliment him about the features of the bicycle.

Then suddenly, the unknown male person drew a firearm and pointed it at the cyclist. The cyclist then dropped the bicycle and backed off. The unknown male then grabbed the bicycle, placed it in the back of the bakkie and they drove off in the direction of Port Elizabeth.
