Intelligence led operations held on 3 April 2019 and during the early hours of 4 April 2019, resulted in the arrest of suspects as well as the confiscation of drugs, medicated tablets and a .22 rifle with ammunition.

On Wednesday, 3 April 2019 at about 11:50 PE Flying Squad, K9 unit and the SAPS Airwing executed a search warrant on a plot in Colwyn Crescent, Chelsea in search of firearms and drugs. On searching the premises, a .22 rifle with telescope and rounds were found hidden in the bathroom. Twenty nine dagga plants were uprooted in the backyard.

A total of 8,835kg dagga was found drying. Two people aged, 53 and 38 were arrested and detained on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession and cultivation of dagga. They will be appearing in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on 4 April 2019. The serial number of the rifle is filed off.
