Members of Aliwal North Cluster, South African Police Service, in pursuit of ridding the streets of drugs, have arrested two suspects for possession of drugs.

On 14 October 2019, an Intelligence driven operation was successfully conducted by members of the Cluster Task Team, Crime Intelligence (CI) and K9 Unit, who acted swiftly on intelligence and managed to apprehend two suspects. Both suspects are detained at Aliwal North Police cells awaiting for their court appearance at Aliwal North District Court.

Success is as follows:

552 Mandrax tablets to the estimated value of R55200, 00
Crystal Meth (Tik) 28 grams with value estimate at R 6600,00. Which brings the estimated street value of the drugs to R61 800.

Aliwal North Acting Cluster Commander, Colonel Mpho Rabele, welcomed the arrest of the two suspects. He stated that this was a major breakthrough in removing illicit drugs that have festered among the youth and is poisoning our communities.
