Teamwork by SAPS members in the Nelson Mandela Bay District led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of two hijacked vehicles and firearms, after three suspects allegedly went on a crime spree in Kwanobuhle on Saturday 29 July 2023.

It is alleged that on Saturday evening three suspects aged between 25 and 32, hijacked an Audi A3 in Dunjwa Street, and a white VW Polo in Qolohle Street, Kwanobuhle.

At approximately 20:30, in Ndlambe Street, Kwanobuhle the members found the VW Polo and as soon as the three suspects saw the SAPS members they started shooting at them.

Members returned fire and two suspects were wounded and taken to hospital for further treatment.

The third suspect succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

An inquest was opened for further investigation.

The members recovered the red Audi A3 in Qolohle Street, where the suspects hijacked the VW Polo, the VW Polo were also confiscated and during the searched of the vehicle they confiscated one firearm and a second firearm was recovered next to one of the suspect’s.

Wallets and cell phones of the complainants were also recovered.

The suspects are detained on multiple charges of possession of hi-jacked vehicle, possession of suspected stolen property, attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearms and unlawful possession of ammunition and will appear in the Kwanobuhle magistrate court during the week.
