Vigilant Mdantsane police arrested a 23-year-old suspect and recovered the hijacked vehicle shortly after it was reported to the police on the night of 13 August 2021, at about 21:45 during their patrols in Mdantsane.
Three suspects armed with pellet gun, panga and knives threatened the couple and hijacked their vehicle, a silver Chevy Aveo in NU 3, Mdantsane.
Crime prevention members who were on patrol spotted the hijacked vehicle, swiftly intercepted it and arrested one of the suspects. Police recovered the vehicle and confiscated the pellet gun, knives and a screwdriver from the suspect.
Investigation continues.
Police are investigating a case of carjacking and possession of presumed stolen vehicle. The suspect is due to appear in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of carjacking and possession of presumed stolen vehicle.
